From our seaside chalet and statics, through barn conversions, small and large, cottages in the countryside and by the beach and on to our big family houses and those right on the Norfolk Broads, we have something for everyone and for all your dogs too! Sleeping 2 to 10. All of them have properly enclosed outside areas, dogs are allowed on the sofas and all around the house, no silly rules, dog bowls provided, crates, stairgates, spare leads, beds, dog buggies and so much more… and a genuine welcome.
We don't charge for dogs EVER, many of our properties are happy with UNLIMITED (yes, unlimited!) dogs and the others are very happy with 4 and more! But please don't think they are 'dog-eared' - far from it, they are loved and looked after and many are home from home for their owners - some are properly luxurious, others are more basic but still very dog welcoming.
All our properties are in rural and coastal Norfolk, the quiet coastal bit between Cromer and Great Yarmouth, just on the edge of the Norfolk Broads too. Miles and miles of sandy beaches to run on all year round. Plenty of dog friendly pubs and cafes to visit. Take a boat out, with your dogs, on the wonderful Norfolk Broads. We have a discount arrangement too with an electric boat hire company and our own ERC boat coming soon (2025).
You can come for a week or for a short break. Relax in our lovely houses or go out every day to explore the wonderful, dog friendly Norfolk coast and countryside. Always knowing that you and your dogs are very welcome.
And we're not a faceless agency - you will always get one of us - Sue or Georgie, to speak to or email. Both of us have lived here for many years, know all of the houses really well and the area too. I have 2 dogs of my own - a little rescue boy, Ernie and crazy Border Terrier, Mabel! Georgie has lovely big Great Dane, Polly and busy little Spaniel, Penny. I have holidayed all around the UK for years with my dogs and genuinely think that Norfolk is one of THE most dog friendly areas in the country. I hope you can come and find that out too!
We offer so much more to our guests…we can lend you crates if you need them - all sizes, plus high chairs, cots, sofa steps and stair gates if needed and a range of dog buggies - perfect for older dogs to join you on the lovely long Norfolk countryside walks!

Do you feed raw? We have teamed up with the Raw Dog Food Company in Norwich (we use them ourselves) to give our guests free delivery to their holiday cottage and a minimum order of just £10. An Absolute Dream for Humans and Hounds Alike at Thatched Cottage!
From the moment we pulled up to the Thatched Cottage, we knew we'd found somewhere truly special – and our dog, Smudge, agreed! After two stays here Smudge thinks the Thatched Cottage is his! This particular stay here exceeded all our expectations and made for one of the most relaxing and enjoyable holidays we've ever had.
The cottage itself is simply stunning. The photos honestly don't do it justice – it's even more charming and beautifully presented in person. Every detail has been thought of, from the cozy interiors to the incredibly well-equipped kitchen.
But what truly made our trip exceptional was the genuine consideration for our furry friend. The welcome pack wasn't just for us; it included thoughtful treats and even bowls for Smudge. As we were celebrating 1-year since we rescued Smudge, Paul and Lisa treated him and us to a voucher to Wroxham hotel and a bottle of special doggy beer for Smudge.
The location is also perfect for dog owners. We enjoyed countless long walks, exploring beautiful nearby beaches and country trails.
After our adventurous days, coming back to the comfort of Thatched Cottage was pure bliss. Paul made sure that the hot tub was ready for us to use.
Both Paul and Lisa were incredibly thoughtful and responsive, ensuring our stay was seamless from start to finish. It's clear they understand what dog owners are looking for in a holiday, and they've truly created a "home from home" experience.
If you're looking for a truly exceptional dog-friendly getaway, look no further than Thatched Cottage. We're already going back here in two months time!

Just back from a great few days at Badgers Retreat. We had a very warm welcome and a great welcome pack. The cottage is perfect for 2 with lovely views over the fields. It’s quiet and relaxing and has everything you need our dogs had a wonderful time

We have stayed with East Ruston Cottages for some years now and every cottage/house has been superb for us and our dogs. This year was no exception. We stayed in the beautiful Bristow Barn in East Ruston and its probably the best yet. Very comfortable for us and the dogs.
There are walks from the door and if you want to walk the Weavers Way, its just a short walk to access. The beach is just a 10 min car ride to Happisburgh or Cart Gap.
The owner could not have been more helpful in sorting a couple of problems out and pointing out where to walk
Norfolk is quite a drive from the Midlands but East Ruston properties, Management and the local area/beaches mean we end up coming back year after year. You won't be disappointed!
