Located in the village of Salterforth, Cosy Cottage is the perfect retreat for couples wanting to explore the neighbouring counties of Lancashire and Yorkshire. Close to the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park and Forest of Bowland (AONB), the area is ideal for those who love the outdoors, with lots of walking and cycling opportunities, set in stunning scenery. The village of Salterforth is located in the Pendle area of Lancashire, although it was formerly part of the West Riding of Yorkshire. The Leeds Liverpool Canal runs through the village and there are some lovely walks and cycle paths along the canal into Barnoldswick and Foulridge. You could also take a trip on a narrow boat from one of the moorings. The local pub, which is situated on the banks of the canal, is very historic. Dating back to the 1600’s, the original pub was actually underground and you can still see this today. The lively market town of Barnoldswick is just over a mile from the cottage and here you will find a good selection of shops, pubs and cafés. Due to its location on the Yorkshire/Lancashire border, there are lots of wonderful places to visit within easy driving distance. The highlights include the market town of Skipton (10 miles) with its castle, Haworth and Bronte Country (14 miles), Settle (16 miles) and Harrogate (30 miles). Manchester and Leeds are both around an hour’s drive. For those who prefer a coastal landscape, the Fylde coast, whose popular resorts include Blackpool and Lytham St Anne’s, can also be reached in around an hour. Shop and restaurant 1½ miles, pub 500 yards.
