Overcharged and wouldn’t refund. Won’t go back on principle.

I took my friend and dog for a cuppa and cake. Then decided to get my dog something while I was waiting for the tea. The treats were on a sign saying ‘£1.80 each or 2 for £3’. She charged me £3.60 and when I commented that it should be £3, she snapped back “well in all the 7 years I’ve worked here, it’s never been a thing”.

I pointed to the sign, which she promptly removed, but wouldn’t change the price. I was too stunned (and tired) to argue, but I won’t be going back. So they’ve lost a customer over an attitude about accepting a mistake, rudeness - and just 60p.

I paid over £20 for 2 teas, 2 cakes and two small packets of dog treats. If I’d not put it on a separate order, I wouldn’t have known, so how many other people have been overcharged by something that wasn’t ’a thing’?

I’ve never come across anyone not accept an advertised price - and would have put them back except that my dog had spotted them and would have sulked.

I've been here a few times, they always have water bowls out and even have help yourself treats. Dogs are welcome inside the cafe, nice pitstop before or after a walk on the down which it back onto
