Skye Shepherd Huts

Skye Shepherd Huts is located on the stunningly beautiful Isle of Skye. It is a popular island, but our quiet village is tucked away from the busy centres of Portree and Broadford. There are just 2 Shepherd Huts here, and each sleeps 2 adults only (double bed). Each hut is set well apart for your privacy and convenience, with a private shower room and toilet nearby. Peace and quiet is guaranteed.

The Huts: they are very cosy and comfortable; hand made with lots of oak finishes, hot and cold water, electricity, heating, crockery and cutlery, and just about everything else you might need. Coffee and tea making supplies included. Pure linen bedding makes for a great night’s sleep. A wood stove keeps you toasty on cooler nights. Wood fuel is provided (small charge in summer, but free in the winter). Each hut also has outside seating, picnic table and a fire pit area with space allowing you to BBQ if you wish. Please use disposable BBQ trays for this, available to purchase locally in Broadford supermarket. 

Breakfast: We are a bit of a hybrid! Breakfast is available, picnic style to self serve in the bothy kitchen.
But wait, you can self cater too in the Bothy kitchen!

Bathroom facilities: one bathroom/shower room for guests use is located in the entrance hall of my house. There is a second shower/toilet in the Bothy for the other hut guests use. No sharing of these facilities. It is a very short walk from either hut to these facilities. Towels are provided. 

Shared spaces: the Bothy kitchen is very well equipped, with a range cooker and all mod cons. There is a supermarket in Broadford (4 miles) for you to buy your provisions The kitchen is open plan to a comfortable lounge area, ideal for mingling with other guests, or for 4 friends travelling together to hang out. There are local maps to study, and games to play here. 
You also have the use of a Summerhouse with the most amazing views across to the vast remote scenery of Knoydart and Loch Hourn. Look the other way, and we have great views of the Isle of Rum to the south-west. If you watch carefully, this is the place to be to spot our local eagles hunting across the moorland.

Pets: We love animals. There are the donkeys Gilbert and George, free ranging hens, cats of various shapes and sizes, and our own old dog Ciaran living here with us. We would kindly therefore ask that you keep your dogs under good control, both at the huts, and in the village where sheep and cows roam freely. 
There are some local beaches for your dog to run free and have fun. Please ask and I’ll point them out to you.
Skye is generally a dog friendly island. Please ask, I can recommend some eateries that will welcome your dog too. 
If you are going on an excursion that does not allow dogs, there is doggie daycare available in Portree, ask me for details, and book well in advance of your trip. 
Dogs are permitted on all ferries to and from Skye, and most leisure boat trips too, but do please double check with the boat company at the time of booking.
Should your pet require supplies, toys or medical treatment, we are well served by the local vet, conveniently just a 10 minute drive away from here. I can provide extra blankets for the bed if you’re dog is allowed up, and an outdoor water supply also means you can wash your dog if they get mucky.
