Borrowdale Hotel

Dogs: 2
At The Borrowdale, dogs aren’t just allowed — they’re properly welcome. We know they’re part of the adventure. From the moment you arrive, there’s a warm spot by the fire and a soft bed waiting for them (and for you). Bowls, beds and biscuits provided.
Our dog-friendly rooms make it easy to settle in, and with the fells right outside the front door, you can be off on a walk within minutes — boots on, lead clipped, tail wagging. After a good stomp, muddy paws are no bother here. Dry off, stretch out, and enjoy hearty food and a proper pint while your dog dozes by your feet.
We welcome up to two dogs per room at £25 per dog, per night. Many of our regulars have four legs, and we wouldn’t have it any other way. Come back to Borrowdale — they’ll know the way before you do.
At The Borrowdale Hotel, we know dogs aren’t just pets — they’re part of the pack. That’s why four-legged guests get just as warm a welcome as their humans. Whether it’s their first visit or their tenth, they’ll find familiar scents and friendly faces from the moment they arrive. Many of our rooms are dog-friendly, with cosy beds and bowls ready and waiting. There’s even a dog biscuit or two for weary travellers. We welcome up to two dogs per room, with a charge of £25 per dog, per night. Step outside and you’re straight into the fells — no car needed. Whether it’s a morning trot to Castle Crag or a full day exploring the valley, you can be back in time for tea and ready to dry off. We’ve got dedicated dog towels for soggy coats and a hosepipe round the back for truly muddy paws. We’ve seen our share of those! Inside, there’s plenty of space to relax together. Dogs are welcome in several of our lounges and the bar area — home to four different fireplaces that warm the rooms throughout the cooler months. There’s always a quiet corner to curl up in. In the warmer months, dogs can join you in our garden too. Our conservatory offers views down the valley, while out front there’s a small paddock ideal for stretching legs. Just a few metres from the hotel, a field is perfect for a pre-breakfast run or a bedtime wander under the stars. While you enjoy hearty food and a well-earned glass of something, they’ll be snoozing at your feet, content from the day’s discoveries. Please note we don't allow dogs in our restaurant, but they can dine with you in our bar and conservatory. Many of our guests — two-legged and four — return year after year. So whether it's your dog's first fell walk or their hundredth, we’ll be here with biscuits, the fire lit and a warm welcome.

Visited many times with my dog Charlie and had lots of happy memories staying there and I’m sure more to come! Love the cosy lounges and Charlie loves lying by the fire in the guest lounge. Food is amazing and they have dog bowls / blankets and biscuits all ready in your room on arrival. It’s the perfect place for walking and the views are amazing! Plus the Sunday roasts are to die for!! (Charlie says so!!)
