River Mountain Experience

Looking for a family day out? We run river trips by canoe in the Vale of York, between the moors and the dales, as well as guided walks; all are accessible for families with dogs.

Our aim is to enable people to work or socialise in the British Countryside; to give them the skills, knowledge and ability through guided events, training or provision of equipment. At River Mountain Experience, we provide bespoke, informal and formal training, accredited by various National Bodies and Organisations, in skills for water and land activities, First Aid and Leadership. Our highly trained and experienced staff develop your skills at your pace.

We are based between the Yorkshire Moors and Yorkshire Dales National Parks. With access to both parks and the Lake District, we can cover large areas of the most scenic and diverse parts of England.

Although we strive to accommodate all breeds, we cannot take any bigger than a Collie on the canoe trips for safety reasons; sorry! Some of our guided walks may not be possible with dogs due to the access restrictions imposed by land owners through the Countryside Rights of Way Act. All activities that are suitable for dogs will say so in the listings and the dogs always go for free!
