Megan’s holiday cottage is a characterful detached barn conversion in the small village of LLwynmawr, in the heart of one of the most picturesque settings in North Wales.
Lloyd George once described the Ceiriog Valley as a Little bit of Heaven on Earth.
Situated 3 miles from the village of Glyn Ceiriog and 6 miles from Llangollen Megan’s has been designed and renovated to offer excellent accommodation for a family gathering or for a group of friends. An ideal base to discover this beautiful region.
Megan’s has a large kitchen with centre island, alongside a separate dining room, which has the added benefit of a wood-burner and patio doors to the garden. The sitting room has a beamed vaulted ceiling, a wood-burner and has french doors and glazed panels along the length of the wall offering stunning views across the valley. There is also light and airy conservatory.
There are four bedrooms, with two king-size doubles upstairs in the older part of the cottage, which benefit from modern styling coupled with quirky features, including exposed oak beams and joists. The other two bedrooms, a king-size double en-suite, and a family room, are on the ground floor and are complemented by a double sofa bed in the sitting room. There are also three bathrooms.
Megan’s cottage has a large wrap around garden on three sides of the property, with three relaxing patio areas, giving plenty of space for children and your four-legged friends to play whilst you relax listening to the babble of running water from the fenced stream. There are many doorsteps walks that radiate from the village, a few miles away is the popular town of Llangollen, the magnificent Clwydian Hills, the Roman city of Chester and The Snowdonia National Park are around an hour’s drive.Come and stay and explore all that beautiful North Wales has to offer there is something for all from Castles to Forest Adventures or just relaxing
Megan’s cottage offers stylish quirky accommodation in a stunning location and is a fantastic holiday destination all year
The reason Ysgubor Celyn has Megan in its name:
Megan was our much-loved border collie who started her early life in the old derelict barn, she was destined to be a sheep dog, but Megan had other ideas and so did her farmer owner. I used to see her looking at me longingly from under the old barn door when I walked past with my Labradors, she looked so lonely. I ask the farmer if we could have her, eventually he agreed, and Megan came and lived with us next door at the Local Inn. She loved coming back to stay at the cottage and exploring her old haunts.
Sadly, Megan passed away in 2015, but she will always be remembered with much love and affection.
Gone but never forgotten.

Just returned from a lovely few days away. Idyllic setting with stunning views over the rolling Welsh countryside. The accommodation is spotlessly clean & spacious yet with a homely feel, so much attention has been given to the little things that others tend to overlook. It's situated in a quiet setting with lovely walks from the door yet within easy reach of many of the local Welsh tourist destinations. Many good eateries nearby, although the spacious kitchen has everything you need if you feel like catering for yourself, bbq too if the weather's good enough to eat alfresco. All in all a perfect holiday and I hope to return.

A fantastic property, with everything you need for a great holiday/short break. Everything about the property is perfect. Great facilities, lots of space and very clean. Good location for getting out and about and a very good pub nearby.

North Wales Idyll. Situated in a beautiful valley, stunning views and very peaceful. A lovely holiday residence fitted with everything one could need and a kitchen to die for. Plenty of space both inside and out with grounds that are secure for children and dogs alike. An added bonus is the restaurant next door! Will certainly be returning.
