Woodlands is a splendid Edwardian villa built in 1905 as a gentleman's residence. Sitting proudly on a high promontory with outstanding views just on the outskirts of Giggleswick and a short distance from the ever popular market town of Settle. Situated in its own spacious grounds, the house is located in a wonderful countryside location with superb long distance views and provides an ideal holiday home for large groups and families to get away from it all and enjoy a break in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales. On entering the house through a grand stone portico, guests will be immediately impressed with the grandeur and style of this lovely home. The tiled hall leads into the drawing room with its cosy open fire and wonderful long distance views to the rocky limestone crags. The sitting room boasts a beautiful brick fireplace and again offers a cosy and comfortable room to all sit around and catch up on old times. The kitchen is well equipped with a gas fired range, two dishwashers, a large fridge and a further drinks fridge in the adjoining utility area. A beautiful staircase from the main hall passes a stained glass window to the upper floors where each room has been individually styled and furnished to enhance the period features of this spacious holiday home. Of particular note is the lovely 4 poster room, the two double rooms with en-suite facilities and the second floor attic room with walnut bed and free standing bath positioned to take advantage of the far reaching views. A useful family room with three single beds, ideal for the kids to share, provides excellent flexibility for the group. Woodlands is set in mature wooded gardens, including a terrace overlooking the Ribble valley, a couple of small lawns and plenty of parking. There are tables and chairs for everyone, two barbecues and a croquet set for when you don’t want to stray too far. Good cycle routes are available from the doorstep along quiet lanes and the ride up to Austwick and Horton in Ribblesdale is a real favourite among locals. The challenge of the Three Peaks is just a short drive away, not for the faint hearted but certainly a rewarding achievement for those of the more energetic persuasion. Nearby Settle and Giggleswick are a real delight with good old fashioned pubs, excellent cafes, a good range of restaurants, a weekly market, a small but very interesting golf course and an award-winning cheese shop, so stock up before you leave. For train lovers access to the famous Settle-Carlisle Railway line is on the doorstep and well worth a ride through some of the most scenic countryside in the British Isles. Both Skipton and the Lake District are both under an hour's drive away, making this cottage a delightful place to be whatever the time of year. A perfect place for the family, group of friends to to spend time together preparing sumptuous meals, relaxing by the warming fires, catching up on the latest news and planning the following day's adventures.
