Wharf Cottage

This fabulous, four-bedroom, detached 1740s cottage is tucked away in the village of Pewsey, in the heart of the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in Wiltshire. A pretty yet characterful retreat for seven people, families and friends will truly feel a part of this charm-filled holiday home and all it has to offer. Accessorised with pure attention to detail, this enchanting hideaway presents itself over three floors, with a four poster bedroom situated on the ground floor, brought to life by wardrobes, a dressing table, and lamps which give off a warm glow. Two doubles are located on the first floor equally as delightful, lovingly put together with charming furnishings and unique decor, with steep steps leading you up to the twin bedroom, leaving you spoilt for choice when it comes to a good night's sleep. Views welcome in the peaceful outdoors. Along the corridor on the lower level, the cottage reveals a lounge with an electric woodburner effect fire, and a dining room which is set up for seven people. You will look forward to cosying up here come evening, and beginning your mornings in the kitchen with lovely views of the garden forming a pleasant backdrop. Alternatively the snug is a cosy spot to gather, housing comfy seating for five and doors opening out to a patio area with furniture. There is also a lovely rear garden laid to lawn with two seating areas, fully enclosed and perfect for children and pets. Why not take a peaceful walk along the canal or have a picnic watching the narrow boats go by, or even venture across the road on the edge of the canal for a bite to eat at the local bar and bistro. There are many more pubs, restaurants and an array of shops in the village, along with a weekly country market in Marlborough, taking over the high street every Saturday and Tuesday, selling locally sourced produce. The regular bus to Marlborough stops right in front of the old pub next door and on your return, you can get off directly in front of the house. You are also conveniently within reach of the local Heritage Centre so you can brush up on your history, as well as the train station offering access to some of Wiltshire's gems and the city of London an hour's ride away. Pewsey holds various events throughout the year, however it is the Carnival and the events leading up to it, such as the wheelbarrow race, that is the highlight! If a walking holiday is what you're after, you are surrounded by places to hike and stroll and there are also many cycling routes and daily cycles taking place around the Vale of the White Horse, for walkers there is the beautiful Salisbury planes. The World Heritage sites of Stonehenge and Avebury Stone Circle are both easily reached and the charming market town of Marlborough is just seven miles away. Marlborough famously hosts the Marlborough Literacy festival, Marlborough Music Festival and The Lamb Inn Pub and other various other also host regular live music every weekend. An extra special retreat in a precious part of Wiltshire.
