Enjoy a holiday on your own private Scottish island, the ultimate get away from it all holiday!. If you’re looking for your own remote private Scottish hideaway, then Torsa is just the location for holidaymakers with a sense of adventure. The Farmhouse is ideal for a family or group of friends, and is the only house on the island. You get the whole place to yourself to explore, except for a few sheep and Luing cattle. The property is spacious and well equipped, and access is via a small motorboat which is provided for guests use (tuition and life jackets are provided). The views of sea and islands are unmatched, and dolphins and porpoises can sometimes be seen in Loch Melfort, even from the conservatory windows! Red and roe deer roam the island; otters hunt in the seaweed and along the rocky shorelines and seals can be seen basking on the rocks in Cuan Sound. You may even see birds of prey, including buzzards and eagles, and the smaller shoreline birds and song birds are everywhere. If you wish to bring your own kayak, sailing or power boat, then Torsa makes the perfect base. Launching facilities are available at the ferry slipway on Luing or from the beach at Ardnamir, don’t forget your wellies, and with several marinas and chandlers in the area you will be well provided for.The island of Torsa is sheltered between the Isle of Luing and Degnish Point on the Scottish mainland. Approximately one mile long by half a mile wide, the island is the perfect size to explore! Guests access it from the sheltered anchorage of Ardnamir Bay on the Isle of Luing, once on the island an electric buggy is available for guests to use to transfer their luggage and there is some mobile phone coverage on the island. Luing is only a half hour drive south of Oban, and is reached by a short car ferry crossing that runs every half hour during the day, and at select times during the evenings. There is so much to see and do in the area with Loch Melfort, the islands of the Firth of Lorn, Shuna Island, Jura and the Corryvreckan whirlpool just waiting to be discovered, while the island and surrounding area has abundant wildlife throughout the year. Torsa is located near the eastern boundary of the Firth of Lorn Marine Special Area of Conservation, and within sight of Balachuan Hazel Woods on the Isle of Seil, a Scottish Wildlife Trust Nature Reserve. Take one of the many wildlife watching boat trips that operate in the area, for a chance to see whales and basking sharks. Torsa is a part of the Ardmaddy Estate and guests are welcome to use the facilities at the castle, including tennis court, games room, loch fishing and gardens.
