Rough Top Cottage
Originally a farmer’s cottage and barn, now extended to be a luxurious countryside retreat, Rough Top is full of original features and character, providing you and your dog with a relaxing environment for your holiday.
Dog friendly! The cottage has a fenced seperate garden with picnic tables so you and your dog can relax in safety. Our doggy welcome pack has extra throws, towels and even emergency leads and bowls. There is an outdoor shower hose to clean your dog and your boots after exploring the area. We have top boarding kennels 300metres away who do wonderful doggy day care should you wish to explore without your dog and leave him in safety - you could even book a wash and brush up whilst they are there!
Ideal for those wanting to get away from it all, Rough Top is situated in a quiet hilltop area at around 1300 feet above sea level you can be assured of stunning views and plenty of walks and cycle routes for all abilities. We are within easy walking distance of Bridestone’s Rocks, a popular haunt for climbers and scramblers and around 2 miles from the Pennine way and Mary Towneley Loop of the Pennine Bridleway both accessible via pathways or short drive. Once you’ve explored our local surroundings, you can return and relax in front of a roaring, log fire.
The welcoming farmhouse kitchen with beams is equipped with all kitchen implements and utensils, with the large table able to easily seat 8, handy if you’ve got friends or family locally to invite over. A seperate lounge has open log fire and cosy leather sofas and a games area to relax after a long day exploring Yorkshire.
The bedrooms are in keeping with the farmhouse style, with pine beds and brilliant views on tap! We have one double and one twin room upstairs with a shower room and a single bedroom downstairs, also with a neighbouring shower room – ideal for if one of your party isn’t so keen on the stairs.
If you’re interested in venturing off the hillside, we are situated above Hebden Bridge and are a short drive away from Haworth, the home of the Bronte sisters. We are also a 28 minute train ride from Manchester city centre as well as being easy distance for a day out in Halifax, Leeds, Harrogate, Skipton or Blackpool. Great places to visit include The Peice Hall, Halifax; Hebden Bridge has individual shops and many many festivals; Haworth home of the Bronte sisters; York Minster and town centre; Skipton Castle.
Lots of eating places near by from traditional pubs and cafes to high class Italian restaurants. Hebden Bridge boasts eateries from virtually every country Greek, Italian, Japanese, Thai and of course traditional English.
