Paradise View
The property lives up to its name, with divine views of the harbour, sea and across to the ‘old town’ – above which looms the romantic ruins of Whitby’s medieval Abbey, inspiration to Bram Stoker’s gothic masterpiece, ‘Dracula’.
Those who love to have everything on their doorstep, will appreciate the prime location of this quality cottage which sleeps 6 people. It can be booked with adjacent property ‘Paradise Cottage’, to sleep up to 12 people for that special coastal getaway for families and friends.
On the ground floor, an entrance hall with cloakroom leads to a double aspect sitting room with exposed beam and brickwork to give a rustic look. It’s a space made for relaxation, so curl up on the large L-shaped settee after a busy day sightseeing and chill out over a bottle of wine and some good conversation. TV and DVD included.
A well-equipped kitchen with utility area, plus a charming dining area with a coastal theme complete the ground floor.
Stairs lead up from the sitting room to the first floor, where there are two double bedrooms with fabulous views – one of which has an en-suite shower room – and also a simply-furnished twin bedroom with bunk beds. Guests will appreciate the contemporary shower room after sandy days at the beach, it comes complete with shower, basin and WC.
To the front of the property, a small garden terrace is a lovely spot to sit and listen to the seagulls, breathe in that fresh seaside air and watch the world go by. A delightful rear enclosed courtyard can be accessed via the kitchen – head out here with your morning coffee and start the day feeling quietly refreshed.
To learn more about the history that’s all around you, head for the Whitby Museum – the exhibits offer fascinating insights into the town’s rich maritime history, as well as local geology and wildlife.mThe Captain Cook Memorial Museum commemorates the town’s most famous seafaring son, who gained his apprenticeship here. For days when all you want is pure relaxation, then head down to Whitby beach for some good old fashioned bucket and spade fun – don’t forget to sample the world-class fish and chips on your way home!
