A tastefully decorated property situated in Tregaron, at the foot of the Cambrian Mountains.. Maesyfelin is situated in the delightful town of Tregaron, nestled at the foot of the Cambrian Mountains and within 30 minutes of the beautiful Ceredigion coastline making it an ideal base for exploring west Wales by foot, bike or car. The town received its royal charter in 1292 and it owes its origin and growth to its central location in the lush upper Teifi Valley. It is steeped in history and famous as a gathering place for the drovers who, before the advent of rail transport, herded large numbers of cattle, sheep and even geese hundreds of miles to the markets of south-east England. Today the very small town still has a friendly atmosphere and boasts independent shops and an award winning bar and restaurant in the Talbot Hotel, just seconds walk from the cottage.

The rural surroundings of Tregaron are really an undiscovered gem. The sparsely populated county of Ceredigion offers roads largely untroubled by traffic and the footpaths and bridleways can often be explored without coming across another person. The terrain is excellent for cycling (on or off road), motorbike and motor touring, walking, birdwatching, fishing and horse riding. If you like to explore the culture and history of the area you can visit ancient churches, the ruined Cistercian Abbey of Strata Florida and remote chapels in the hills. The Tregaron to Abergwesyn mountain road is well worth driving, it offers wide open vistas of remote mountains and moorland, a world away from bustling cities and hectic motorways, and is probably the greatest wilderness in southern Britain.

North of Tregaron is another famous landscape feature, Cors Caron, or Tregaron Bog, the largest raised bog in Britain. It is a peat bog of international importance and a nature reserve since 1955. This rare habitat is home to some very rare flora and fauna. It can easily be reached on foot from Tregaron town. This whole area is fantastic for wildlife, especially raptors such as buzzards, peregrine falcons, harriers and the iconic, attractive red kite.

You can visit the university town of Aberystwyth with plenty to offer from its historic castle, long promenade and pier, plus it is home to one of Wales’ most picturesque steam train journeys through the valley over to Devil’s Bridge. The colourful Georgian harbour town of Aberaeron, and New Quay, a quaint fishing town with lovely beaches and famous for its seafood restaurants and boat rides, are also within easy reach for a day out.

Maesyfelin has been tastefully furnished to offer every comfort for guests and is the perfect base to discover the wonderful area. Once you have visited you will be hooked! There will always be a warm welcome, or "croeso cynnes", as they say in Welsh, awaiting your return to Ceredigion!. Ground Floor:
