Low Longlands

This well-presented, comfortable barn conversion is attached to an historic cottage where the owners reside. The building dates back to 1688 and contains foundation stones from a much earlier property which has local historic importance with connection to the early Quaker settlers in North America. Rurally located in the Uldale Fells, the apartment is right beside the Cumbria Way providing an ideal holiday location whose peaceful ambience is sure to satisfy guests who want to get away from it all. This romantic cottage has so much to offer, with a private indoor hot tub and sauna, a perfect spot to relax on your well-deserved break. Situated on the first floor, the living accommodation boasts a kitchen with a Juliet balcony from where you can enjoy the fell views, whilst the bedroom has exposed beams and stone work and an en-suite bathroom. Outside is a private patio where you can listen to the bird song with a morning coffee and watch the friendly red squirrels, or pop over to the barn to discover the bubbling hot tub and the superb sauna. Just five miles away is the Oddfellow’s Arms in Caldbeck or you can have lunch in Mae’s tea room in Uldale. The Northern Lakes are relatively undiscovered and Bassenthwaite Lake is said to have one of the most striking views in England. The Lake District Osprey Project is situated at Dodd Wood near Bassenthwaite Lake where you may be lucky to spot one of these majestic birds at certain times of the year. Ireby is also within easy reach and has an annual music festival in May, whilst the pretty village of Caldbeck has cafes, a Post Office and a shop with a mining heritage. Keswick is only 30 minutes’ drive and is often considered the outdoor capital of the lakes as it is situated on Derwentwater with all its water-based activities. An ideal location for those wanting to explore this stunning rural location which can be enjoyed at any time of the year.
