Littlen's Lodge

We are 100% dog friendly - the only exception is dogs must not be left at the property unattended. Whilst we are dog friendly unfortunately the property is not very child friendly so we can not accept young children so we prefer children of over 14.

Littlen’s Lodge is in the old fishing village of Winterton-on-Sea, a few minutes away from the shop, post office, tea rooms and pub. Walk out of the drive and within a few minutes you are on a stunning, completely unspoilt sandy beach. Perfectly situated for a bucket and spade holiday, a dog walking paradise or a romantic getaway, the bungalow is comfortably furnished and equipped. It boasts free wifi, Netflix, oil-fired central heating, a separate dining room and totally enclosed rear garden. French doors from the living room open onto the garden where there is a paved area with seating, a BBQ and a lawn with space for pets (and adults) to play. The master bedroom, which looks out over the front garden/drive, has a king size bed, while in the second bedroom there is a double bed The recently fitted shower room has a double shower enclosure. There are TV’s in the dining room, king bedroom and lounge. There is a small selection of books and games. At the front there is off-road (driveway) parking for two vehicles. The bungalow is within a 5 minute walk of the bus stop on the village green from where there is a regular service to Gt Yarmouth. Alternatively there is a bus stop 400 yards along the road. Electricity/heating, bedlinen and towels are included in the price. Dogs are welcome at no extra charge and the beach is dog friendly year round. The cottage is no smoking. Winterton is perfect for holidays. Even at the height of summer the beach is never crowded. There is a car park by the beach and toilets, meaning you can spend the day soaking up the sun at the beach before wandering back the short distance to the comforts of home. The dunes are a nationally recognised site of special scientific interest, home to rare species and the whole area is a bird-watcher, nature lover, artist or photographer's dream. In summer a colony of little terns - one of the UK's rarest seabirds - takes over part of the beach for the nesting season. Then in the winter grey seals from the thriving colony at nearby Horsey come ashore to have their pups. Both grey and common seals are often seen stopping on Winterton beach for a snooze and they can be spotted in the water throughout the year. The village is on the doorstep of the Norfolk Broads. It’s a short 5 minute car trip to Somerton Broad and only 10-15 minutes to Potter Heigham Broad where Dayboats can be hired. Guided boat trips are available at Horsey Mere - a hidden gem of a nature reserve. Winterton is a short drive, but a world away from the amusements of Gt Yarmouth and not far away from Hemsby, Sea Palling and Horsey. The coast road to Cromer, 45 minutes away is a delightful drive. Cromer is a lovely coastal town with lots of quaint little shops. Winterton is also about 45 minutes from Pleasurewood Hills theme park. Norwich, described by JB Priestley as a fine city, is about 40 minutes' drive. As well as the highly rated castle museum and beautiful cathedral, it is very popular for shopping. Norfolk is dotted with fascinating museums chronicling its fishing, agricultural and military history and was once one of the prime area's of the herring fishing industry. Great Yarmouth’s Time and Tide museum (about 30 minutes away) is worth a visit. There is a Transport Museum in Caister, about 15 minutes away. The area is great for walking, fishing and cycling, there is golfing nearby at Caister and sea fishing trips can be booked at Scratby. There is a dog friendly pub in Winterton (only a 10 minute walk) the Fisherman’s, which also sells food. There are also dog friendly Pubs in Hemsby (only a five minute drive), The Bell and the Lacon Arms, both serve food.
