This endearing mid-terrace stone cottage is situated in the heart of the picturesque village of Slingsby, between Malton and Helmsley. Full of charm and character, it provides the perfect romantic hideaway for couples who enjoy walking, cycling and exploring the beautiful surrounding countryside. Downstairs, there is a delightful open plan living area, with flagged floors, beamed ceilings and a traditional window seat. A comfortable sofa and chair are set around the lovely, cosy woodburner - ideal for toasting the toes by on cooler evenings. The small handcrafted kitchen is well equipped, with granite worktops, a Belfast sink and a quarry tiled floor, with a breakfast bar adjacent to it. Upstairs, the pretty double bedroom overlooks the main street, with the convenience of an en-suite with a roll-top bath and underfloor heating. With a homely feel throughout, this gorgeous cottage can't fail to please. Outside, there is an enclosed sheltered courtyard to the rear, providing a very pleasant spot to sit and relax with a glass of wine. Just a five minute gentle stroll brings you to the local inn, renowned for good food, while the village shop provides everyday necessities. Three miles away is the magnificent stately home of Castle Howard (from Brideshead Revisited) with wonderful gardens, lakeside walks and an upmarket cafe and estate shop. Surrounded by the Howardian Hills, the area is a fantastic base for walkers and cyclists, with a network of footpaths and quiet country lanes to follow. The market towns of Helmsley and Malton are only a few minutes’ drive, with their cobbled squares, quaint tea rooms and many independent shops and delis. Not to be missed is the city of York, steeped in history with its walled inner city, beautiful Minster and Jorvik Viking museum, where you can take a trip underground to discover archaeological finds. A charming and quality cottage to come back to after interesting and varied days out.
