Jolls Ground Barn (through Sykes Cottages)

Dogs: 3

Sleeps: 6

Three bedroom granite barn conversion on the edge of Bodmin Moor, with enclosed garden, one acre field & games room

A beautiful barn conversion made of granite and slate, Jolls Ground Barn sits in its own grounds of over one acre, with an enclosed garden, field and plenty of private parking. The barn is single storey, with three bedrooms, well-fitted kitchen, bathroom and a cosy lounge with a log burner in a fireplace made with old granite gate posts. The dining table is in the east-facing conservatory which gets the morning sun. There is a patio in the garden which gets the evening sun, and a fire pit in the field for having barbecues.

The barn is located a short distance off the A30 so provides easy access for travelling further down into Cornwall, or visiting the north coast (Tintagel, Port Issac, Padstow) or the south coast (Polperro, Looe). The barn is within walking distance of the western part of Bodmin Moor, and as you walk across the moors you will get a breathtaking view of Brown Willy, the highest point on Bodmin Moor, and Rough Tor. Bodmin Moor is designated as an International Dark Sky Area, so is perfect for star-gazing. The local villages of Five Lanes and Altarnun are within walking distance. Five Lanes has a great pub, the Kings Head, which does good homemade food and takeaways (dogs are allowed in the bar). Altarnun has a village shop and post office, and a beautiful church known as the Cathedral of the Moors.

There are masses of amazing walks over the moors; along the coast following the South West Coastal Path; and inland, for example at Golitha Falls along the Fowey, or up at Minions where there are stone circles (the Hurlers), fascinating rock formations (the Cheesewring) and lots of tin and copper mining heritage. A list of dog friendly beaches is given in the visitor information.
