There is a beautiful 5km round lake circuit, which is perfect for pushchairs, wheelchairs and bicycles. The path runs adjacent to the lake, and passes by the impressive Siblyback Dam and through woodlands. This is an idyllic location to get outdoors and breathe in the fresh air on a walk, run or cycle. Dogs are welcome on leads, so bring your four-legged friend along too! Pop into Olive & Co. for a delicious breakfast or lunch, a slice of cake or a lovely artisan coffee.

Siblyback Lake
By Rowena Ford

Now as any experienced dog owning camper, caravanner or motor homer will tell you, location is important, but a great dog walking area is essential. Well step forward Siblyback Lake, part of the South West Lakes Trust.

Yes, dogs have to be on the lead on the walk around the lake and are not allowed in the water but just 200 metres from the camp site is a fully enclosed large dog field with a mixture of long and short grass, trees and a bench for you to recover from the early start while they rampage around the field, play fighting and chasing the ball. We have stayed here twice already this summer and are about to go back again.

There is a 3.6-mile well maintained path which runs around the lake with plenty of seats to rest and enjoy the view. There is a water sports activity centre, play area and fabulous dog friendly café, so all in all, great for families as well as singletons or couples.

Our two Golden Retrievers, Morwenna (3) and Jenna (10 months), love this site and as most people are friendly, they have always had a lot of fuss from the people we have met here.
