House on the Green
Ideal for exploring the coastal resorts of Kent with their beautiful sandy beaches, rock pools and chalk cliffs.. The House on The Green is a terraced property situated in the Garden of England and only an hours train ride from London where in the 19th and 20th centuries, families used to travel here to pick the hops for the brewing industry. Visit the hop farm at Paddock Wood which features the world’s largest collection of Victorian oast houses. The hop packets were then delivered to the station using the strength of the magnificent shire horses that you can meet at the farm along with the other animals. Bring the dog and stroll through the apple orchards from the doorstep to the local hostelries offering many artisan beers. Royal Tunbridge Wells is nearby and well worth visiting. Enjoy a stroll along The Pantiles, sip the health restoring waters at The Chalybeate Spring, go to the theatre or indulge in a spot of retail therapy. Historic houses, castles and beautiful gardens are within a short drive, including Knole House in the only remaining medieval deer park in Kent and where ’Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides’, ’The Other Boleyn Girl’ and ’Burke and Hare’ were filmed. Hever Castle, the childhood home of Anne Boleyn, and Leeds Castle, described as ’The Loveliest Castle in the World’ make for great days out. Sissinghurst and Scotney Castle’s gardens are inspiring for the aspirational gardener. Golf, fishing and clay pigeon shooting can be arranged locally. Beach 30 miles.
