Hillcrest is a sunny, south-west facing bungalow, set on the cliff top above the village and adjoins National Trust land in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with a spectacular outlook along the coast towards St Ives. With its sandy Blue Flag award winning beach on the north coast of Cornwall, Porthtowan is renowned for its surf, sunbathing, rock pools and caves to explore, and is ideal for families with children. Porthtowan village, next to the beach, has an excellent village shop/post office, a popular bistro bar and a range of seasonal shops (including local ice cream). The South-West Coast Path, only a couple of minutes from the front door, skirts over the cliffs heading north past Chapel Porth cove, set against an iconic backdrop of historic mine workings and buildings, towards Newquay and south to Portreath, with its lovely harbour and beach, then onwards to St Ives. Along the path you can find ruined engine houses, unusual bird and plant life and even a seal colony. The Victory Inn, half a mile up the lane, offers an excellent welcome to all visitors (including dogs), well kept beer and good pub food.Inside Hillcrest, the spacious lounge leads to a conservatory which doubles as a dining room; from here you can watch the sun setting over the sea and Godrevy Lighthouse flashing its warning to sailors. There are three bedrooms – a master bedroom (king sized bed) with beautiful sea views, two twin bedrooms, a family bathroom, and an additional walk in shower room with WC. Outside, the gently sloping enclosed lawned garden, is an ideal spot for children to play in safety. There are steps down from the parking spaces to the bungalow, however inside it is level, apart from two small steps which lead from the lounge to the conservatory. Hillcrest provides an excellent base to explore many of Cornwall’s attractions including The Eden Project, The Lost Gardens of Heligan, St Michael’s Mount, St Ives and its Tate Gallery, Penzance, the cliff top Minack Theatre, Lands End, the National Maritime Museum at Falmouth, Newquay Zoo and Aquarium and the Lappa Valley Steam Railway.
