With its unusual and unique history, Hill Cottage sits in a wonderful position overlooking the delightful hamlet of Hewood on the borders of Dorset and Somerset. Built of cob, a natural building material, this detached property has connections with the renowned landscape painter Lucien Pissarro who lived here until his death in 1944. The Cottage is inviting and welcoming with its bright, neutrally decorated rooms and you’ll love the cosiness that the open fire and woodburning stove bring during the cooler months. In the summer you’ll be eager to sit out and relax in the stylish garden furniture at the top of the terraced gardens with the far reaching views stretching away into the distance. Accommodation is plentiful with one double room with en-suite bathroom with bath, separate shower, basin and WC, one twin and one single. There is also a gleaming shower room with shower, basin and WC. The dining room with woodburning stove is a great touch and perfect on those cool winter nights. Thorncombe is a village and civil parish in Dorset, located on the border of south Devon. Hewood is a hamlet that lies to the west of Thorncombe parish church, it consists of sixteen thatched cottages and three farms, it was mainly built around the middle of the 18th century. To keep you busy whilst staying here, find a magnitude of attractions within the surrounding area to keep a family of all ages and tastes busy. Choose to explore the impressive Forde Abbey House and Gardens or if you are visiting with younger guests, spend some time at the Axe Valley Wildlife Park.
