Come and stay in our lovely handcrafted Shepherd's hut, or our Vintage Caravan, in a spectacular and peaceful setting, on our smallholding and vineyard in North Devon. It's the ideal place to leave your everyday world behind, wind down and relax. Surrounded by fields and views to our vineyard and the countryside beyond, you can be at peace with nature, listening to bird song by day and watching the stars by night. If you are up early in the morning you could be lucky enough to see some of the deer that come into our fields to graze and if you like, you can gather your breakfast eggs from your own chicken house.Read More
Our bespoke Shepherd's hut, complete with hot tub and internet, is fully equipped with everything you need for a holiday break of any length. It is the perfect summer or winter retreat. On those cooler days or nights, you can light the hobbit-sized log burner and sit back and enjoy a good book and a nice glass of Gratton Vineyard wine. On those warm and balmy summer nights, you can strike up the gas bbq, lounge in the hot tub or just sit on the decking and enjoy the peace and quiet.
The hut has a lovely full-sized shower room with loo, washbasin and shower, we even provide fluffy towelling robes, towels and slippers, so you don't have to bring your own. There is a cosy sitting/dining area and table with a double bed that pulls down at night and stores away in the day (without any need for you to make it) leaving you plenty of room to relax and stretch your legs. The fully equipped kitchen includes butler sink, oven/microwave, hob, fridge, kettle, toaster, glasses, crockery and cutlery. We even have a radio so that you can listen to the Archers or any of your favourite programmes. Outside there is a decking area with table chairs and a gas BBQ. There is also a wood-fired hot tub and plenty of wood kindling, firelighters, etc.
We also offer a unique stay in a vintage caravan furnished with some mod cons to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. The caravan has an oven, gas hob, lights, fridge, shower, loo and washbasin - towels, bathrobes and toiletries supplied. The comfortable seating converts into a double bed, with plenty of bedding provided. There is plenty of storage, an outdoor seating area, a gas BBQ and loungers to help you really relax. We hope we have provided everything you need for a comfortable stay.
Gratton Vineyard is a smallholding of around 3.75 acres where we grow 200 vines for wine production (for our own and your consumption), all our own vegetables and fruit produce.
We also have our family of chickens who produce all our free-range eggs and our delightful ‘paddle’ of ducks, Waddle, Lavender, Lulu, Richard, Donald, Jemima, Spud, Kyne and Briar, who will all be happy to meet you and lay plenty of eggs for you to enjoy.
Our animal family also includes our cute and cuddly pygmy goats, Eric and Ernie who will be delighted if you pet them and take them for a little walk every now and then.
Booking your stay
The minimum stay is 2 nights, however, please contact us if you would like to book just one night and we will see if we can accommodate you. The price includes a Devon welcome pack and a chilled bottle of wine, bed linen, towels, fluffy toweling bathrobes, slippers, complimentary toiletries, plenty of logs for the wood-burner and hot tub, wifi, plus lots of other little extras.
