LOCATED: In a picturesque village surrounded by open countryside, its a short walk to the "George & Dragon" well known for its friendly atmosphere, log fires, local ales and home cooked food. Shutford is approx 5 miles from Banbury and 7 miles from Chipping Norton. It is a small village with a traditional Pub, Village Hall and Parish Church dating back to the 14th century built in the transitional style between Norman and Early English Gothic. Its name is derived from Scytta's Ford & the Plush and shag weaving industry established here in 1747 has become the village's main claim to fame. By 1910 the only handwoven livery plush manufacturer in the world, “Wrench's”, was based in Shutford - they supplied plush for the coronation of Tsar Nicholas II of Russia in 1896, decorations at Windsor Castle for Queen Victoria & liveries for royal courts in Europe and the embassies of China, Japan, Persia and the United States.

“...A wonderful stay in Shutford. The house was lovely & had everything we needed. Very secure garden made it a great place to stay with dogs. The information folder gave us some good walks in the local area . Lovely hosts & if we were to return we would love to stay again...” Lizzy, Paul, Lottie, Alex, Lynn & Lewis, April 2024

...We had a great time as a group of six friends, two 15 month olds & two dogs. The house was just like the pictures & had everything you might need in the bathrooms & kitchen. Hosts Alastair & Patricia were really friendly & helpful. There were waters & chocolates in the bedrooms & beers & G&T in the fridge - lovely touches. The village is lovely & short drive from other notable Cotswold villages/towns. Thanks for a lovely stay...” Laura & Family & Friends, March 2024

“...Six of us stayed at Monastery Barn over the weekend for a family wedding & the accommodation was perfect for us all. Patricia welcomed us on our arrival, showing us around & assuring us of her help should we need it. A table set for dinner & a complimentary drinks tray was most welcome after a long day travelling. It was really kind of Patricia & Alastair to offer us a later checkout which meant we could have a more leisurely morning after the previous late night. We enjoyed a relaxed coffee sitting in the gorgeous conservatory & were bid a warm farewell from these lovely & welcoming hosts...” Alison & Family, March 2024

“...Amazing venue. Lovely house. Warm welcome. We felt as though we were in a home rather than a holiday home. We would love to return. Will explore next visit. Thank you...” Roly, Rupert, Gillian, Suzy, Brian & Jane, March 2024

“...Absolutely amazing stay!! We had the best weekend! Alastair & Patricia were the most helpful, welcoming & generous hosts. They did everything they possibly could to make it the best stay for us! They always responded quickly to all messages & made it a delight to stay at the house! The house itself is beautiful, very clean & comfortable & has everything you need. All the amazing little touches were so appreciated! Couldn’t recommend enough & we will definitely be going back! The Rolls Royce of Airbnb's !!!...” Ben & Kate & Friends, March 2024

“...5 stars. We had a wonderful stay. The house is beautiful & in an idyllic setting. Patricia & Alastair were incredibly friendly & helpful hosts - the house had so many thoughtful details (G&T ingredients, chocolates in the bedroom & nursery rhyme books for our babies). We wanted for nothing & would highly recommend this Airbnb...” Sophie & Doug & Family & Friends, February 2024

"...Alastair & Patricia were super friendly hosts who had stocked up their home with essentials & went the extra mile by putting our food shop away when the Tesco delivery driver dropped the shop off early! Thanks for a great stay..." Helen & Friends, February 2024

"...5 stars. Great stay at Monastery Barn. Plenty of room for the 6 of us & a lovely home. Alastair & Patricia were very welcoming & friendly..." Beth & Family, February 2024

"...Thank you again for a wonderful stay. This is the second time we've stayed here & we loved it both times. Loads of recommendations given by Alastair & Patricia (everything we did while there was at their recommendation & we loved it all!). They were there to greet us on arrival & were so friendly. There was a problem with the oven while we were there but they were only too happy to help us. Loads of lovely little extras, like the table laid beautifully, the welcome drinks, milk & chocolates. I just LOVED relaxing in the orangery with a book & a cup of tea. The area itself is a lovely little village with beautiful surroundings. Such great price for such lovely accommodation. Hopefully we will have a reason to come back a third time!..." Vicki & Family & Friends, January 2024

"...5 stars. Great hosts & beautiful home. Very communicative & welcoming to their lovely home. And went the extra mile with small touches :) ..." Beth & Friends, January 2024

"...We had  a lovely time, great accommodation, all you need & more. Super friendly hosts, enjoyed all of it. Lots of nice touches to ensure you have all you need. Thank you.." Monique, Peter, Helen, John, Kasia & Mark, January 2024

“...Monastery Barn is the perfect get away for family friendly stays. We hosted my husbands 60th birthday gathering here & had an amazing time, the space was perfect & the amenities helped make our stay comfortable. The bedrooms were luxurious & beds soft & enveloping. The hosts across the courtyard meant support & advice was close to hand, which in other circumstances may have been intimidating, but far from it, Patricia & Alastair were the most generous & genuinely hospitable couple, creating the backdrop for a private retreat. Thank you both, we would definitely stay again...” Alison & Family, January 2024

“...Patricia was amazing, so friendly, super lovely, went above & beyond & the boys loved the Barn...” Sam & Colleagues, January 2024

“...From the moment we arrived we were given a warm & friendly welcome by Patricia. The accommodation is perfect, relaxing, well equipped & a great place from which to explore the locality. The complimentary drinks tray is a nice touch & there is everything you need to enjoy a stress free stay.
