Hidden away in the stunning countryside of County Durham, Dandelion Cottage is the perfect place from which to explore this beautiful area. The location couldn’t be better for relaxing, unwinding and leaving the stresses of everyday life behind. This terraced holiday property, adjacent to the owner’s home, is ideally suited for families, friends, couples, walkers and cyclists alike. Lovingly renovated to a very good standard, it provides light and spacious accommodation. The large kitchen/dining room is well-equipped and the living room boasts a fabulous wood burner for those chilly winter evenings. There is plenty of outside space, where you can enjoy the countryside views.

There is an abundance of places to explore, with established public footpaths, cycle paths and nature reserves all within walking distance. For those looking to leave the car behind, the local pub is within walking distance, and there are a variety of supermarkets, shops and restaurants in Bishop Auckland, home to the fabulous Kynren Eleven Arches. The thriving, popular market town of Barnard Castle hosts a weekly farmers’ market, and has some super local pubs, restaurants, shops and historic buildings. Hamsterley Forest, a delightful 2000-hectare site of popular walking trails, cycle trails, orienteering and picnic spots, is just a 10-minute drive away. Witton Castle at Witton-le-Wear, 3 miles, offers fly fishing, a bird sanctuary, historic castle and beautiful grounds. Raby Castle is also within easy reach and is a must for guests who wish to catch a glimpse of over 200 deer which wander the grounds. Set within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the village of Staindrop is just 7½ miles away, and offers tea shops, cafés and a local family butcher. The cathedral city of Durham can be reached within a 30-minute drive, with its theatre, castle, cathedral, designer boutiques and shops, as well as many annual events such as the Lumiere Light Festival, book week, arts week and the Durham Brass Festival. Dandelion Cottage is situated only a short drive away from Bishop Auckland which will play host to the magical Kynren Eleven Arches Spectacular from July to September 2017.

Kynren - an epic tale of England, is set to be a historical extravaganza with a cast of over 1000 people and set over 7.5 acres of County Durham. It promises 14 action packed and movie-like performances of colossal and dazzling proportions. The shows will incorporate a full-size lake with pyrotechnics, stunning lighting and water effects making a true spectacle in every sense of the word!
