This idyllic cottage is nestled in the grounds of Gordon Castle Estate, just opposite the historic village of Fochabers in the Scottish Highlands. Courtyard Cottage is the perfect family retreat offering stunning views of Gordon Castle and its gardens, which features beautiful fruit trees and rare plants. The cosy and luxurious cottage has a well-equipped kitchen for all of your family’s needs, including additional seating with a breakfast bar. The sitting room features a dining area and a TV, ideal for relaxing after a delicious meal. The cottage includes two bedrooms: a double bedroom with a king size bed and a twin bedroom. There is also a family bathroom which includes a shower, basin and WC. Outside guests can enjoy shared use of the castle gardens, where parents can relax and try out local produce in the Wall Garden cafe while their children can have fun using the play area. There are many local amenities which are only a short walk away from Courtyard Cottage. The River Spey is renowned worldwide for salmon fishing, so fishers can try their catch at Gordon Castle and Brae Water. Guests can also have a go at shooting and roe deer stalking in the Gordon Castle Estate. Nearby there’s the Moray Monster Trails with a variety of mountain bike routes for cyclist enthusiasts. It’s less than a 20 minute walk into the charming village of Fochabers which offers a Folk Museum and Heritage Centre, as well a garden centre and a bridal shop. Just over a mile away, west of Fochabers, is the Baxters Highland Village where foodies can delight in Baxters’ world renowned food and drinks. There are plenty of attractions a bit further afield as well for the keen explorers. You can enjoy watching dolphins at Spey Bay, less than a 15 minute drive away from Fochabers. Malt whisky fans can feel at home and sample different whiskies at various distilleries, including Speyburn Distillery (23 minute drive) and Strathilsa Distillery (20 minute drive). Less than half an hour away is the former cathedral city of Elgin, where you can discover the ruins of a 13th century cathedral, visit the Elgin Museum, the Moray Motor Museum or have a look around the shops Elgin has to offer. Or you can venture even further and visit the famous Loch Ness which is about a 2 hour drive away. Located in a tranquil and relaxing setting with plenty of activities and attractions to explore, Courtyard Cottage is the ideal family getaway in the heart of the Scottish Highlands for any time of year.
