This charming 200 year old cottage lies in a great location for discovering waterfalls, castles, museums, as well as historic cities and quaint villages.. On the first floor guests will find a well-presented double bedroom and snug twin bedroom, as well as a family bathroom.This semi-detached cottage is overlooking the village green and nestled in the quaint village of Romaldkirk, just 5 miles from Barnard Castle and in the heart of the picturesque area of Teesdale, in the Durham Dales. The small village of Romaldkirk is home to two public houses, each just a minute’s walk from the front door and both with excellent reputations, one with award-winning food and both offering a selection of fine and local ales. Just across the road, guests will find the stunning church of St Romald, which is better known as ’The Cathedral of the Dales’. Perfect for walkers, ramblers, nature lovers and cyclists, Teesdale is blessed with many of the best routes starting from Romaldkirk itself. Surrounded by unspoilt woodland and open countryside the scenery is ever changing, providing the perfect landscape for a day long walk or bike ride. Caroline Cottage is perfectly located for a visit to England’s highest waterfall, High Force at Middleton-in-Teesdale. It is situated in the North Pennines, only 10 miles away, and is a spectacular sight to see the River Tees suddenly drop 68 feet over the Whin Sill to a plunge pool below. Active guests will also be able to enjoy pony trekking in the area, fishing in the lakes and rivers, exploring the nature trails, sailing, canoeing, water skiing, mountain biking and golf, which can all be located within an hour’s radius of the cottage. Also perfect for guests wanting to explore the local history and culture, the historic market town of Barnard Castle is situated just 5 miles away and is definitely worth a day trip and a visit to the world famous Bowes Museum.
