Take the left turning and head out into open countryside, watch the trains on the nearby Settle to Carlisle line or take a right turn and head off on a lovely walk into the town passing scores of moored narrow boats, the local park and the vibrant canal basin before entering the old market town. Skipton, well-known as The Gateway to the Dales, offers much for the visitor, a medieval castle, canal boat trips, a four day market, award-winning chippies, a swimming pool, golf course, excellent cycling routes and a myriad of walks, including easy rambles and challenging fell walks within close proximity of the town.
