***NOW WITH WOOD-FIRED HOT TUB (chemical-free)***

Our new large homely & cosy shepherd’s hut (24’ x 9’) in South Norfolk sits alone in its own very secluded & secure 1/2 acre meadow, in a rural location. 4’ fencing on 3 sides, and a 6’ fence on the other.

There are no other huts or buildings on site - or within 100m - so the space is all yours, completely private, and very dog-friendly (up to two large dogs, at no extra cost - and no restrictions!). The entire space has been designed around dogs and their owners.

Blackthorn Retreat is virtually surrounded by arable fields, with lovely walks on your doorstep, and the views, sunrises & sunsets and big open skies are wonderful (the Milky Way is a regular guest!).😁

As you will see from the reviews on Airbnb (some extracts below), our guests are wowed by what we have to offer here, and most vowing to return!  We

Sleeps two, with a king-sized bed and a very comfy Emma mattress.

We do not charge for any extras (other than the hot tub - £40 for first night, then £10 each subsequent night) - so your hamper, firewood & kindling for the firepit & hot tub are all included in the accommodation rate!

The delightful small town of Harleston is only 7 minutes away.

We are just 45 minutes to the coast; Norfolk & Suffolk have the most amazing beaches - most of which allow dogs (either on all or part of the beach), and on some you might not see another soul for ages!  The Broads are only 20 minutes away (starting at the picturesque town of Bungay), and North Norfolk just over an hour.

Beautiful Norwich is 30 minutes, mediaeval Bury St Edmunds 50 minutes, stunning Southwold 45 minutes.

South Norfolk is very understated and quiet, and you will often go on walks without seeing a soul.

We love it here, and - although it is lovely & quiet - you can be as connected or disconnected as you like (we prefer the latter!😊).

We’re only on Airbnb…https://www.airbnb.com/h/blackthorn-retreat-starston

Having spent a month in the hut pre-launch, we have ensured that we have covered all bases, and provide everything you need for a relaxed stay with your dogs - such as: throws for the settee & bed, outdoor hot & cold mixer tap, toys, poo bags for walks (although stick & flick works on walks here), treats for dogs & humans, paddling pool.

All of our 5 star reviews have been exceptional, eg:

“Absolutely idyllic location. The shepherds hut is fantastic… we could have moved in. Loved all the lovely furnishings and the finish was to an exceptionally high standard. Thanks so much to our fantastic hosts. Beverley and Stuart were both so helpful… offering help and advice….and lovely chocolate brownies! Thanks for everything”

“A great place for a weekend away. The gated field was excellent for allowing the dog to roam free and gave us time to relax and enjoy the surprising number of things available to do including: starting up the fire pit, lots of board games, darts and some beautiful stargazing at night if you're lucky with the weather.

The place was extremely well thought out and we loved our time there. Thank you so much and we look forward to coming back sometime!”

“A truly relaxing and comfortable stay for us and our 2 dogs. No restrictions on the dogs as well as having a secure outside space was priceless. We've never found this anywhere else. Even a paddling pool set up for them as well as an outside hot & cold dog wash station. Bev & Stu have gone above and beyond providing all the home comforts in this wonderful shepherd's hut with separate laundry room including eco friendly toiletries, laundry & cleaning products. I was so grateful that they were able to organise a hot tub rental for us as we were celebrating& wanted to spoil ourselves thoroughly. The welcome basket was very generous too. The Emma mattress is amazing and I must say that Bev's home made room spray blend is magnificent. I would happily buy a bottle if it was available! There's not enough characters to write everything i want to but thank you both so much for sharing some of your beautiful part of the country. We will be back very soon 🌿💚”

“we had the loveliest stay. The hut is spectacular, so pretty and in gorgeous tranquil settings with great views. Bev and Stu were fabulous hosts, really looked after us. It was my wife's birthday and there was flowers and a card waiting! Our dog Claude had a whale of a time running round the secure dog pen. He had treats on arrival and some great toys to play with. Bev and Stu have really thought of everything in the hut, including the most comfortable mattress ever! I can't wait to stay again.”

“Had an amazing  2 day stay here, so peaceful and every little detail has been thought of, super clean and so personable. Would happily recommend to anyone looking for a home from home stay, and great for dogs.”

“Blackthorn Retreat was one of the best Airbnb we’ve ever stayed in. Everything was thought through and we were wowed by all the details and sweet personal touches.  Extremely dog friendly - my 2 little dogs really loved the setting and running around the meadow which is secure and full of flowers.”

“Property was immaculate and finished to a high standard. Everything you would need and more with some lovely personal touches. Extremely dog friendly with very secure grounds and lots of spare covers and throws for bed and furniture, so no worries about dogs!!!  Highly recommend and will definitely be staying again!!!”

“This is one of my favourite air bnbs. Totally serene and impeccably clean. Perfect getaway from busy city life!”
