1 Yew Tree Cottages

A semi-detached traditional cottage situated in Upper Lydbrook, Yew Tree Cottage is set back from the road, opening out to lovely greenery and providing a retreat ideal for couples and families alike. Offering parking for four cars and with direct access by footpath into the Forest of Dean, the cottage offers a perfect location for those wishing to park-up and make the most of all the extensive forest has to offer. In front of the cottage visitors will find a large patio area with seating providing a lovely spot for alfresco dining and to look back into the trees to spot some of the varied birds and wildlife in the area. Wander inside and you will be welcomed by a charming sitting room with ample space for dining or simply relaxing in front of the TV after a day spent exploring the area. Moving into the rear hallway you find the unusual arched area, a throw-back to the cottage’s previous life, and now set up with a super-comfy armchair with reading lamp for those in search of me-time or simply a quiet spot to plan activities for the following day. Moving around, a well-equipped kitchen provides all you need to prepare meals and offers all mod-cons including dishwasher and washing machine if needed. Head upstairs to a large double bedroom, tastefully decorated and with feature quality double brass bed, feather duvet and pillows and comforting throws for any chilly nights. The second, smaller, double bedroom offers a quality vintage brass bed. Both rooms are provided with both feather and quality micro-fibre duvets with a selection of matching soft to firm pillows. The clean, white bathroom is well-presented and offers both a full-size bath and stunning walk-in rainfall-head shower. Welcoming two well-behaved dogs, the cottage is ideal for those looking to find easily accessible off-road walking for their four-legged companions and offers secure garage storage space for a number of cycles with designated cycle-wash area. Clear walking paths mix with cycle paths forming a linked network stretching for miles throughout the area. A ten-minute walk through the forest along a disused railway line takes cottage visitors directly to the church and village pub serving excellent food and local ales. Village shops include a grocery store for all your provisions as well as a fish and chip shop for a take away. The immediate area offers a wide range of things to do but if you fancy going further afield enjoy trips to the picturesque Wye Valley and Symonds Yat, home of the peregrine falcons. Visit the historic towns of Monmouth, Ross-on-Wye, Cheltenham, Chepstow and Hereford. Travel a little further to visit Hay-on-Wye, the Black Mountains and explore further into the landscape and history of South Wales. This retreat has everything you need for a memorable getaway.
