We are blessed with rural views, beautiful sunsets and dark Northumberland skies. As a dog friendly Northumberland campsite we welcome dogs free of charge on our tent and touring pitches and operate a small cleaning charge per stay in our dog friendly glamping pods. Our touring pitches are spacious, with hedge markers between each pitch and there is a sturdy dog ring on each for securing your precious animal. Hot water dog wash, enclosed dog exercise field and scenic dog walk. Open all year. Quiet site policy after 10.30pm.
Herding Hill Farm is just 1 mile from Hadrian’s Wall with a huge variety of walks going West towards Walltown Quarry and Birdoswald Roman Fort and East to Steel Rigg, Housesteads and beyond. The AD122 Hadrian’s Wall bus stops at the campsite entrance (between Apr and Oct) and is dog friendly and provides easy access to all the attractions along the wall between Hexham and Haltwhistle.
Herding Hill Farm is open all year round. As well as tourers and campers we have a range of glamping pods to suit all budgets, from our Wigwam cabins, some of which have en-suite toilet and hot tub through to our adult-only luxury Castle Pods which have everything you need for the most amazing of glamping experiences including fire pits, BBQ, amazing views and private outdoor hot tub. We have dog friendly accommodation in all types of glamping pod. Luxury Lodge with 3 bedrooms and outdoor hot tub.
On site is a children’s playground, animal petting farm, where children are encouraged to participate in animal feeding twice daily, scenic dog walk, field for ball games and a small licensed shop selling Northumberland ales and produce including BBQ and breakfast meat packs from the local butcher. Fire pits, BBQs and stargazing kits available for hire. Pizzas served to your pitch or pod Friday evenings in season. BBQ hut for hire. Free WiFi. EV charging.
5-star amenity block with no-push showers, accessible bathroom, sauna available for exclusive use, private baths in the ladies bathroom, laundry and indoor campers kitchen with information room and vending machines.
10 minutes’ walk from the site is the Milecastle Inn which serves great food and real ales. Whilst dogs are not allowed inside the pub there is a large beer garden with amazing views. Alternatively guests can walk into Haltwhistle where there are a larger selection of pubs, or there are several dog friendly pubs Northumberland within a short drive including The Greenhead Hotel and Twice Brewed Inn.

We had a fabulous stay at Herding Hill in March with our 2 lovely dogs. We had some lovely walks with fabulous scenery and hopefully we will be back to visit reall soon
