Confident Canine

I'm Nina, founder of Confident Canine® in Essex and a multi award-winning gundog specialist. I work with gundog guardians of high-drive gundogs who don't come back when called, can't listen, once they're outdoors, pull on the lead, or can't switch off and settle. Most training treats these issues as obedience gaps: teach the cue and repeat until it sticks. But a dog in a dysregulated state can't learn, no matter how many times you ask, it's not stubbornness, its science. That's why I created my own Regulation First Framework™, built on proven dog training methods alongside nervous system practices. I work with both ends of the lead, gundog and handler, because your gundog is always reading your whole state, head to toe, not just what happens at the end of the lead. Once your gundog can actually access their thinking brain, real training becomes possible, and it sticks! My approach is positive, reward based and science-led throughout: no corrections, no dominance, no old-school myths and I work across the full spectrum of gundog owners, from pet homes managing a gundog's drive day to day, to handlers training for real field work. The result: calmer, more capable dogs who can listen, recall, walk nicely, and settle, in the field and at home.
