The Queen's Head

Dogs are welcome inside and out whether its lunch time, dinner time, always welcome. Water bowls are provided and there are 'doggi' treats on the bar and if needed doggy bags. Very dog friendly.

The Best dog friendly pub by far in Sandridge, and St Albans

I am a daily regular at this pub, its like a home from home with amazing friendly staff who make you feel welcome from the start and part of the pub family.

I started coming in on my own with my dogs and incredibly soon knew loads of the customers, and felt welcomed from day one.

It is totally dog friendly inside and outside, with a warm welcome, water provided, doggie biscuits and often their own bit of Sunday roast. For me this is a must when going out as my dogs are part of the family and here the staff and landlord/landlady all love them and are dog owners themselves. Here dogs are allowed to be dogs and have great fun meeting new dogs and playing with their furry friends.

The food is good proper pub food in exceptionally generous servings, cooked perfectly and which are very good value for money.

They have a great range of real ales, gins, wines and everything else. A beautifully done up patio area outside with a heated and covered smoking area.

The pub is old but they've really made an effort to be wheelchair accessible, it's the most accessible pub in Sandridge! There is a ramped entrance to the pub at the back and to the patio area, and grab rails in the toilets. Plus the staff are really helpful and will do anything to help and look after you if needed.

The pub has regular band nights with great musicians, the famous Queenstock music festival in the summer and now has regular live Jazz music on Sunday afternoons!

There are beautiful walks nearby, and next door a lovely 900+yr old village church.

The best thing by far though is the accepting welcome from all, customers and staff and the way people are looked after, no birthday or anniversary gets forgotten for example!!

It is a privilege to be a regular here and part of the Queen's Head Family and every visit is always greatly enjoyed.

I would highly recommend a visit, a meal especially a Sunday roast, and if you have dogs it's a must do spot after a walk in Heartwood forest.

Thank you to Ross and Sharon for creating the perfect village pub, and to all the staff for making it work so well, with an extra shout out to Tara the chef for her lovely food which she cooks for both me and my dogs!
