The Maybush
Set on the beautiful banks of the River Deben, The Maybush is a much-loved Suffolk riverside pub where good food, great views and a warm welcome come naturally.
Part of Deben Inns since 1997, we’re known for our expansive riverside beer garden, panoramic conservatory and relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. Inside, traditional Suffolk pub charm meets nautical touches and plenty of history, including the spinner on the ceiling, an old pub gambling game with stories of its own.
Our kitchen serves proper pub favourites, fresh seafood, seasonal dishes, traditional Sunday roasts and fish and chips, alongside Head Chef Jamie’s legendary lasagne. At the bar, you’ll find proudly poured Adnams ales and barista-made coffee for walkers, cyclists and morning visitors.
Dogs are always welcome at The Maybush. We offer dog-friendly dining both inside and outside, a dedicated canine menu, a doggy drinking station and treats behind the bar. Our team love welcoming four-legged guests, and we’ve even got a local walks map and a dedicated section in our app packed with dog-walking inspiration.
Whether you’re joining us for breakfast, a long lunch, Sunday roast or a relaxed evening meal, The Maybush is somewhere to slow down, watch the boats drift by and enjoy a little escape beside the river.
Few pubs capture the charm of the Suffolk riverside quite like The Maybush. Sitting right on the banks of the River Deben and part of Deben Inns since 1997, it’s the kind of place where you can settle in, watch the boats drift by and easily lose track of time. Our riverside beer garden is made for long lunches and sunny afternoons, while the conservatory gives you panoramic views of the river with bi-fold doors that open up to let the outside in. Inside, you’ll find a warm, welcoming Suffolk pub with plenty of character, from the nautical touches to the historic spinner on the ceiling – an old pub gambling game with plenty of stories behind it. Our kitchen serves proper pub favourites alongside fresh seafood, seasonal dishes and Head Chef Jamie’s legendary lasagne. There are traditional Sunday roasts, fish and chips and plenty of options for a relaxed breakfast, lunch or dinner. At the bar, you’ll find proudly poured Adnams ales, while our barista-made coffee is always ready for walkers, cyclists and anyone popping in for a morning pick-me-up. And yes, dogs are very much part of the family here. We have dog-friendly dining both inside and outside, a canine menu for four-legged guests, a doggy drinking station and treats behind the bar. Our team genuinely love seeing our four-legged visitors, so don’t be surprised if your dog gets just as much of a welcome as you do! If you’re looking for somewhere to stretch your legs, we also have a local walks map and a dedicated section in our app packed with dog-walking inspiration, making it easy to turn a visit to The Maybush into a proper day out. With a large car park, beautiful riverside setting and plenty of space for families, walkers and dogs, The Maybush is a place to come for breakfast, stay for lunch and perhaps linger for dinner. Come for the view, the food and the riverside atmosphere – and stay because it feels like a little escape from everyday life.
