The Calder Vale Hotel is a Victorian pub built in 1874, and extensively renovated by the the Luddite Brewing Company before being reopened in 2019. We pride ourselves on being the “Dog friendliest pub in Yorkshire” and make dogs of all shapes and sizes (and their owners) very welcome.
Read MoreThe Calder Vale Hotel operates as the brewery tap and is situated close to the Calder river and canal, and the Horbury lagoons, all of which are popular local dog walking areas. The two year renovation by the Luddite Brewing Co Ltd was carried out with dog-friendliness being one of our primary considerations. Yorkshire stone and original Victorian floorboards have been exposed and are easily cleaned. Rugged original cast iron tables and bentwood chairs enable customers to relax safe in the knowledge their furry friends are not causing damage to furniture or inconvenience to other customers. We have fenced off the large rear beer garden so that animals (and children!) can play off leash without access to the road. Water bowls are available in all three large ground floor rooms and in the garden. Dog treats are always available at the bar. We are open Thurs & Fri 5-10pm, Sat 2-10pm and Sun 2-9pm.

Dogs are always welcome, owners of the Pub are all dog lovers. There is always fresh water and biscuits available. Plenty of space for them and the Pub is located just off a very nice walk.

I'm not a dog owner but I love seeing so many breeds of dogs chilling at the Calder Vale. It's obvious that the dogs are enjoying an enhanced social life at the CV, as they meet up with their doggie friends. It's a joy to watch lots of tail wagging, mutual sniffing and friendly barking going on as their owners sup their pints!

The Calder Vale is perfect for dogs. The owners are so friendly and love to fuss the dogs and chat about them. Treats are on the bar and the beer garden is lovely for dogs to lay on the grass or sniff the flowers. Couldn't speak highly enough of The Calder Vale.
