For decades our own family pack numbered at least four dogs at any one time, from tiny Yorkshire Terriers and cheeky Jack Russells to majestic Newfoundlands, Pyrenean Mountain Dogs, Bull Mastiffs, French Bulldogs, Labradoodles, Staffies, Basset Hounds, Spaniels, and countless much-loved Heinz 57s. After gently saying goodbye to our final pack of six as they crossed the rainbow bridge, we channelled all that love, knowledge, and empty-nest energy into creating Paddingtons — a deliberately small, exclusive, and deeply personal luxury daycare and boarding service. Paddingtons was born from a simple realisation: the hundreds of dogs we have cared for over the years have always thrived when they are treated exactly like our own — with warmth, structure, and individual attention. That is why we opened our idyllic cottage on the North London / Essex / Hertfordshire border, where rolling countryside walks begin at the garden gate, yet central London is only a short drive away. My daughter Bella brings an instinctive gift with dogs and fourteen months of high-volume London daycare experience, often running the facility single-handedly for weeks at a time. She is currently completing advanced qualifications in canine training and behaviour. Together we offer something very different from large commercial kennels: a true five-star home-from-home where we deliberately limit our guest numbers to a *maximum of just four dogs* at any one time (with up to two more joining walks). This intimate ratio is perfect for anxious, sensitive, or easily overwhelmed dogs, as well as those who simply prefer calm, refined surroundings. Every guest enjoys the full run of our fully secure cottage and double-fenced gardens. They lounge on sofas, stretch out on luxurious beds, and relax in sunloungers. We never crate dogs unless they are already crate-trained and prefer their own space. Our private “Sniffafari” garden has been purpose-designed for canine joy, featuring a huge sandpit, giant paddling and sprinkle pools, two ball pits, a bespoke lure-chase course, and mature planting created purely for scent work and shaded comfort in every season. Twice daily we take carefully curated countryside walks (30 minutes to 1.5 hours, matched to each dog’s breed, age, fitness and personality) across 100+ acres of open fields, ancient woodland, river paths, and quiet farm trails on the London Loop. Walks are always at a generous *3:1 human-to-dog ratio*, ensuring every dog receives individual attention. All guests wear Tractive GPS trackers and carry engraved QR-code tags. Depending on your dog’s needs and your wishes, they can enjoy off-lead freedom, long-line adventures, on-lead strolls, or relaxed rides in our dog stroller — ideal for seniors, blind, deaf, or mobility-challenged companions. We are highly experienced with puppies, long-stay boarders, senior dogs, and those requiring regular medication or special care. We have also successfully managed complex international relocations by air and road, handling all documentation and in-transit welfare for destinations including South Africa, Dubai, and Singapore. At Paddingtons, your dog does not stay in a kennel.
