Cowm Reservior
Very pleasant short (1.5 - 2 mile tops) nice and easy circular walk around the reservoir, in Whitworth, Lancashire.
Excellent for small dogs, not too challenging but enough for some good exercise. Probably best to keep them on their lead as there are sheep about. Flat pathways for little ones bikes and baby’s buggy and picturesque views all around.
Other footpaths go off the reservoir for more rugged terrain up the hills towards the Quarry.
It has a Boat House for the water skiers but unsure of opening times and whether open to the public as this was closed when we visited (Tuesday 19th April 2022) but there are trestle tables in front of the Boat House overlooking the water so maybe at peak times it opens up?
The Reservoir is no longer used to store drinking water and is apparently used as the Northern Training Site for The British Disabled Water Ski Association.
