The Bothy

This detached cottage is situated on a little road which leads from the Devon village of Manaton to the open spaces of Dartmoor. It has been converted with style from an old stone barn, retaining character and charm whilst gaining all the comforts of modern heating and furnishings. As soon as you take the steps up to the front door and leave your coats in the hall, you will feel at home and the open plan living space with its slate and oak floor, wood burning stove and squashy leather sofa in the living area, handcrafted kitchen area and dining area is the perfect place to relax. Head on up to the two bedrooms, both en suite, one with bathroom and the other with shower room. In keeping with the traditional style is the cobbled courtyard with table and chairs to eat alfresco, and there is more garden across a little lane with space to play or enjoy the peaceful surroundings. This is fine walking country, with fourteen acres of woods and fields with a brook to enjoy, and children are welcome to meet the friendly farm animals. For longer walks, head out on to the open moors where you will find spectacular tors like Hound Tor and Bowerman’s Nose or down into pretty Lustleigh Cleave valley. Riding stables aren't far if you fancy a canter (or there are stables available with the cottage if you want to bring your own horses) and the sea at Teignmouth is just 15 miles away. The Bothy is perfectly located for discovering Dartmoor and chilling out.
