Stewarton is a large bustling town which lies at a crossing point of the Annick Water, six miles north of Kilmarnock. It is a town of rich heritage and is known for its bonnet making skills. There are many shops, pubs and restaurants in the town and the convenient train station to take you further afield. Visitors can also follow the Barrhead Heritage Trail, three walks which take in 27 historically significant sights around the town of which the oldest is the Arthurlie Cross, a 9th century carved stone.
