Moss View Cottage (Cozy Holiday Cottages)

Tucked away in the peaceful hamlet of Oughtershaw, deep in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, Moss View Cottage is a wonderfully authentic 17th-century Yorkshire cottage, and a fantastic place to escape with your dogs. 

Surrounded by beautiful open countryside, riverside walks and miles of footpaths, this is a cottage where you can leave the car behind and step straight into the Dales. The Dales Way passes right by the cottage, while walks from the doorstep lead across Oughtershaw Moor, through forest tracks towards Low Greenfield and onwards to Fleet Moss and beyond. 

Inside, Moss View Cottage combines traditional Dales character with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Original stone floors and traditional stone mullion windows sit alongside a modern, fully equipped kitchen, a cosy living room with a freestanding log burner and a compact ground-floor bathroom. Upstairs are two spacious king-size bedrooms, sleeping up to four guests. And for your four-legged friends, there is plenty of room to enjoy too. 

The large enclosed garden gives dogs a safe space to stretch their legs, sniff and explore, while the surrounding countryside offers endless opportunities for muddy-pawed adventures. Multiple dogs are welcome so making Moss View ideal for families or couples who don't want to leave part of the family behind. 

After a day exploring the Dales, the private hot tub is the perfect place to unwind. Set on the patio with steps leading down to a deck overlooking Oughtershaw Beck, you can sit back, relax and listen to the river flowing past. There's also a picnic table and chairs - a lovely spot for enjoying your morning coffee, an evening drink or simply watching the world go by. 

There's parking for up to two cars, and despite Moss View's wonderfully secluded setting, Hawes is only around a 20-minute drive away. Here you'll find independent cafés, shops, galleries, traditional Yorkshire pubs and the famous Wensleydale Creamery.
