In the very heart of Orford and just a short walk from the picturesque Quayside, Mole Cottage should be on the top of your list for your next self catering holiday in Suffolk. There truly is such a homely vibe as soon as you walk through the front door to Mole Cottage. You enter into a cosy sitting room with comfortable seating, open fire (available during the winter months) and a generous display of books for guests to browse and enjoy. Gorgeous sash windows let in streams of light and add to the history of this family cottage. A door from the sitting room leads to the dining room and then through to the kitchen. There really is a natural flow to the property; adding a sense of open plan living, whilst also keeping with the original character of the cottage. French doors from the kitchen open out into the garden area behind - the ultimate spot for a morning coffee or reading a book.
On the first floor you will find two charming bedrooms, one of which houses a charming feature fireplace. A family bathroom with bath and overbath shower create the perfect place to relax after days spent bobbing along on the river or simply to relax your muscles after a hearty walk. On the topmost floor is the master bedroom. Tucked away from it all and with a king size bed, velux windows and an en-suite shower room, you really do feel in a world of your own.
Ideal for: A family or friends looking to enjoy the Suffolk coast. Just a short walk from the village amenities whilst also being a short drive from other well known local attractions including Woodbridge and Aldeburgh.
Sleeps: 6 in 1 king, 1 double and 1 twin. 1 well behaved dog is also welcome.
Exploring: The village of Orford truly is a delight. You really do feel that you are stepping back in time when you drive into the village. With many architectural delights including the English Heritage Orford Castle and Church you really do feel in a completely remote community. This being said; you really are not cut off at all. The bustling village shop stocks a good selection of everyday essentials, and with an order in service you can be sure to have your favourite tipple if required! The village is also home to the world renowned Pump Street Bakery; known for its' delicious sourdough and out-of-this-world doughnuts - seriously, don't knock them before you try them! If you take a wander through the streets you will also come across three fantastic local pubs, as well as the Butley Orford Oysterage restaurant, which serves a menu of fresh fish caught daily along the shoreline.
If you fancy travelling farther afield, you are only a short drive from the music hub of Suffolk: Snape Maltings, Aldeburgh, Woodbridge, Framlingham and much more. A short boat ride across the River Deben will also take you to the National Trust site Orfordness Nature Reserve - a breathtaking landscape and popular with walkers, ornithologists, artists and photographers.
