A few yards stroll along the peaceful lane from this cottage, you are rewarded with a view of the lake and the surrounding fells which is a glorious sight. If you are feeling active you can walk from the door to the famous Lake District Air Force, a spectacular tumbling waterfall set in ancient woodland and glades, with beautiful surrounding walks. Ullswater Lake offers many water based activities from kayaking, sailing and canoeing to fishing for brown trout. At Pooley Bridge you will be spoilt for choice for refreshments as the bustling village has an array of cafes, pubs and restaurants. The whole area is also popular for walking and cycling and for those seeking a hiking challenge Hellvellyn via Striding Edge can be undertaken with a guided tour from Glenridding; a walk not for the faint hearted as it reaches a height of 3,116ft. The picturesque towns of Ambleside and Windermere can be easily reached with a stunning scenic drive over the Kirkstone Pass, and Keswick is a little further to the west.
