Lower Largo is a beautiful little village with a history of fishing, and it was the birthplace of Alexander Selkirk, thought to be the inspiration for Robinson Crusoe. The village has a good-sized local shop, two dog-friendly pubs and is next to a number of links golf courses. There are a number of popular towns dotted along the Firth of Forth, including Elie, Pittenweem, Anstruther, Crail and Dunfermline, and just eleven miles away is St Andrews, world-renowned as the home of golf, where you can enjoy a round on one of its championship courses, visit the British Golf Museum, or just wander around the historic university town.
