Step into Glenwharrie Cottage and enter the cosy sitting room, a neutrally decorated room with a comfortable corner sofa, TV and multi-fuel stove set in a stunning fireplace, what better place to unwind and put your feet up after a long day in the countryside? To one side of the sitting room, off the rear entrance hall, lies a very stylish kitchen with contemporary fixtures and fittings as well as a characterful range cooker adding to the traditional feel to the place. Picturesque views on three sides and patio doors leading out to a decked seating area and rear garden, makes this a fantastic family space. The family bathroom is of high quality with attractive tiling and a traditional wooden door. Glenwharrie Cottage has two light and pleasant bedrooms with lots of storage provided. A dedicated double room with cast iron bed frame and an expansive family room, perfect for bringing young children.The young ones will love the gardens that come with this cottage, extensive lawns to the front and back of the property means they can run and play all day, with fencing to protect them from wandering off. The cottage is situated at the foot of the Kirkland hills, with a babbling stream just beyond the garden gate and an abundance of Scottish wildlife on your doorstep. The property is within walking distance to Kirkconnel village, where you can find shops, a café, Post Office and a pub; a great base for a holiday. Wanlockhead, Thornhill and Sanquhar are all close by and worth visiting, with the Crawick multiverse, historic lead mine tours and a range of local shops and restaurants. Drumlanrig castle, is a short drive away with game fairs, music festivals and family events throughout the year. Glenwharrie Cottage dates back to the 16th Century, and is located in Jacobite country. Originally situated on a historic droving road, this cottage is immersed in the history of the area. An easy stroll across the field adjacent to the house brings you to the ancient St. Conal's Kirk and Covenanter's graveyard - one of the oldest church sites in southern Scotland. Located on the Dalry to Sanquhar stage of the Southern Upland Way and on the old Roman road to Ayr, it is an ideal base for hikers, bikers and those who enjoy outdoor pursuits. The nearby River Nith also provides an attractive option for keen kayakers and fishermen.
