Read MoreBroats Barn is a historic building, dating back to the 12th century. The original barn has altered several times over the centuries and as part of the adjoining Township Farm was one of the first buildings in the village (then township).
Bolam village forms the majority of the Bolam Conservation Area, and consequently the restoration of Broats Barn from cattle byre to high-quality holiday cottage has followed the standards required for Conservation Status.
The village of Bolam is an ancient township originating in the 11th century as an expansion of the Anglo-Saxon estate of Heighingtonshire. For several centuries the village and surrounding lands were owned by the Church and the Prince Bishops.
A very rural landscape, the surrounding are has many footpaths and bridleways. It is ideal dog-walking country, not far from the coast, the Yorkshire Dales and the rugged beauty of the moors.
