Brink Barn

Dogs: 2

Sleeps: 6

Bollington 2.4 miles. Brink Barn is a stone barn conversion, accessed via its own drive way in the Cheshire countryside within the Peak District National Park. This charming semi-detached barn conversion is nestled in a peaceful rural setting on the outskirts of the village of Pott Shrigley. Come in through the kitchen door and be presented with a gorgeous contemporary kitchen with an electric double oven cleverly tucked into the corner of the units, and a classic Belfast sink set between the black granite worktop, a great contrast of old and new, with views from the kitchen window looking out to the rolling hills, it’s a beautifully-presented area, complete with hot tub. Opposite this is the modest utility room which holds the washing machine, leading to a useful ground-floor cloakroom with a basin and a WC. Coming back into the open-plan living space, be guided towards the inviting leather sofas, put your feet up and throw a log in the woodburning stove to warm yourself up on a brisk day exploring the beautiful countryside of the Peak District with its stunning walks. Serve up your lovingly prepared meals at the wooden dining table with black leather chairs, and appreciate the simplicity of coming together to share a meal during your well-earned break. In the evening when it’s time to get some rest, move up the characterful oak staircase and find three bedrooms on the first floor; the master bedroom contains a classic sleigh king-size bed, an impressive piece and in-keeping with the cottages characterful charm, with an en-suite shower room containing a large walk-in shower adjoining it. Further down the hall is the twin room containing two singles, perfect for the little ones, and beyond this is a double room complete with its own walk-in wardrobe. All the bedrooms have simple yet classic décor with bright, light walls and high-quality furnishings making them lovely spots to wake up in each morning. When you are beginning to get ready for your day step inside the family bathroom and choose to enjoy a soak in the tub, or a quick shower depending on what the agenda for the day is. The walkers amongst yourselves would look forward to the Gritstone Trail, which can be accessed by walking halfway down the drive out of Brink Barn. Let one of your first stops of the day be the small neighbouring town of Bollington, where you can indulge in a hearty breakfast at one of its cafés or pick up some lunch to eat later on-the-go from one of the shops, and look forward to returning to a well-deserved pint after your walks. Start your scenic walking holiday with an easy amble and set off from Brink Barn with the goal to walk up to Lyme House, a grand and imposing spectacle of a house, used in the classic TV screen adaption of Pride and Prejudice as Pemberley Estate, Mr Darcy's humble abode, set within a 1300-acre park, explore the lavishly decorated house before continuing on your way. A bit further afield, you can visit the beautiful Chatsworth House and the very charming town of Bakewell, which are only a 40 minute drive away. Head West and hop onto the Macclesfield Canal path and walk your way past the locks and barges towards Bollington again, with the ability to add or subtract miles where you want depending on where you get onto the canal. There is lots of outdoor fun for the family, as you can have friendly competitions to name as many birds as you can on your woodland walks, or explore the mines and caverns in Buxton, always a popular choice for memorable fact-finding trips. For a bit more of an adrenaline rush, you'll be pleased to know Alton Towers is a 50 minute drive - good to know if the children are getting excited and keep asking when they can go on their favourite roller coasters! Within easy reach of some amazing towns such as Macclesfield, Castleton and Buxton, as well as Macclesfield Forest and Rudyard Lake being only 20 and 30 minutes away respectively, Brink Barn will be your home-from-home in the Peaks.
