Dog friendly, adult only, character holiday cottage in beautiful West Wales. Easy access to the coast and mountains. The cottage has enclosed private garden, surrounding grounds and large enclosed field with short mown grass for dogs (and owners) to exercise.

Blaencyswch Holiday Cottages comprise of two adult only, dog friendly holiday cottages in beautiful West Wales (Ty Twt, the adjoining one bed cottage is covered under a different listing).

Formerly a working farm dating back to the 1700s, Blaencyswch and the cottages sit in a tranquil location above the village of Llanfair Clydogau, with far reaching views down the Teifi Valley to the Cambrians. The location is ideally suited to those seeking a peaceful rural location away from the bustle of everyday life.

Ty Barcud is a three-bedroom cottage, converted from a former dairy, Ty Barcud accommodates 4 adults and two dogs. The cottage has two ground floor double bedrooms (with luxury Hypnos mattresses) and an upstairs twin. Having a twin along with two doubles provides great flexibility for groups of 3 or 4 persons who each require their own bed or bedroom. Downstairs, guests enjoy a large open-plan living and dining room with adjoining kitchen. The woodburning stove is the heart of the cottage and great for relaxing in front of when the sun sets.

The cottage has its own south facing private garden enclosed with fence and hedging. The garden gate leads to wider landscaped grounds, comprising extensive lawns, formal planting and areas set aside for nature to run wild. The grounds extend to 8 acres in total, which our guests are welcome to explore and enjoy at their leisure. You’ll find some truly wonderful spots to read a book, throw down a picnic rug, or just relax and unwind.

Within the grounds we have a two-and-a-half-acre dog exercise field which has short mown grass and is enclosed by stock fencing; this provides a relatively secure area for obedient dogs to be exercised off lead. Escape artists and less obedient dogs are welcome to use the field, but on lead please. The exercise field makes a fantastic area for dogs to burn off some steam before setting off on days out. At the top of this field we have an enclosed area with picnic bench, where guests can keep their dogs close whilst enjoying an alfresco lunch, mug of tea or their favourite tipple. From here you’ll enjoy incredible far reaching views down the Teifi Valley and the Cambrian Mountains. Our lower field is left for the grass and wild flowers to grow. We mow a meandering path around the field perimeter, where guests are welcome to walk their dogs on-lead.

In Llanfair Clydogau there is a post office with well stocked shop for buying essentials. The post office also houses a café, and has seating by the river during the summer months.

The nearby villages of Llanddewi Brefi, Tregaron, and the market town of Lampeter have some great eateries and independent shops for you to discover.

For days out to the coast, destinations such as Aberaeron and New Quay are within easy reach; or you may choose to walk a section of the breath-taking coastal path and find a quiet cove to yourselves.

In the cottages we keep a good selection of leaflets covering local attractions such as The Dolaucothi Gold mines, Cors Caron Nature Reserve, Cai Hir Gardens and Rheidol Steam Railway to name but a few. With the coast on one side and mountains on the other, there is always a great day out to be enjoyed.

Our location is perfect for those who value a tranquil location, whilst being within easy access to both the fabulous West Wales coast and the Cambrian Mountains. We are in a dark skies area; on clear dark nights (ideally at new moon) the night sky is breath-taking! With no light pollution it is the same star-scape people have gazed upon since the dawn of time.

We welcome guests and their dogs who are keen to share our oasis of flora and fauna in a beautiful rural setting.
