The holiday cruise begins at the Falkirk Wheel, one of the most stunning backdrops to any canal in the UK. The Wheel, around the height of eight double deckers, is the world’s first rotating boat lift. Upon leaving Falkirk Wheel you cruise along the Union Canal and over the magnificent Almond Aqueduct, which is 420 feet long and carries the canal 76 feet above the river Almond. Next, head through Linlithgow and stop off to see Linlithgow Palace, arguably Scotland’s finest surviving medieval building and birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots. Just down the water is Ratho, home to Edinburgh Canal Centre, and then the capital city itself. Be sure to the see the stunning Edinburgh Castle, stroll along the Royal Mile and visit the Scotch Whisky Experience to try the ‘water of life’! The Shakespeare 4 is an excellent choice for families or groups, as this boat has a versatile bed layout. WiFi is provided onboard, with a 2GB allowance. A 240v electric system with a three-pin. Cigar lighter plug point for mobile phones or camcorders. There is a 240v hairdryer and a security safe. Full central heating with radiators and an airing cupboard. It is carpeted throughout, except kitchen and bathroom areas.

The saloon has seating which can be used as a double bed, if required. Colour flat screen TV/DVD player, Freeview with USB charging point, radio/CD player. A fully equipped galley with a four-ring cooker, oven and grill. Electric fridge with freezer compartment. Cutlery, crockery, saucepans and cooking utensils are provided. Sleeping is in two cabins, all with flexible layouts. Double beds measure 6ft 3in x 4ft with interior sprung mattresses. Single beds measure 6ft 3in x 2ft with interior sprung mattresses. There are two bathrooms, each offering a full size shower.
