This 1 mile stretch of beach is always so full of happy dogs and is completely away from roads. It is bordered on the land side by the railway on a high sea wall and cliffs behind that. You do get close to the railway line at Sprey Point, half way along, if you have to use the slipway because the tide is in too much to use the beach around the point, so care is needed there as the wall is not very high, but the rest of the time you are well below it.

Watch tide times, as if it is a high tide you will have to use the sea wall in parts, but when it is accessible (which is most of the time) this is one of our dogs' favourite places. With the sea wall path as an option you can always get back if you are caught out spending too long drinking coffees at Salty Dog or eating a roast at the Smugglers Inn!

At Holcombe end, if you don't fancy a scramble off (or onto) the beach then you can use the sea wall via a set of stone steps. We prefer to climb through the railings and pick our way through under the arches to get on and off here. On the way down from Holcombe, we let the dogs go at the Salty Dog Kiosk and they hurtle down this way at a rate of knots anyway, with us following in their wake!
