Old Newton Dog Show & Country Fayre

The Old Newton Country Fayre and Dog Show takes place on Sunday 14th July at the Village Hall and recreation ground, from 10.30am to 4.00pm and boasts a fun-filled day that celebrates the very best of our rural countryside community.
Organised to raise valuable funds for the Old Newton Village Hall, the show has all the attractions of a traditional country fayre. It’s free entry and free parking as always, everyone is welcome.
Dog Show
The Dog show starts at 10.30am, with Pedigree and Fun classes for all. Rosettes for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place and perpetual trophies for the winners! Each class is only £1.50 per to enter on the day. Please see our published schedule for a full list of classes.
Dog Agility Ring
The fabulous dogs and their handlers from Paws of Parham will be putting on dog agility displays throughout the day in the dog agility ring with ‘Have-a-go’ sessions for the general public and their dogs, so do join in.
What else is there to do?
There will be a lot going on at the Country Fayre, classic cars display including the car used in the Batman film, Suffolk Brass (Band) Air Cadet Corps, Punch & Judy, Food stalls, Prize draw, walking football competition, Welly Throwing, bouncy castle – we’ve well over 50 stalls inside and outside – including arts and hand crafts, fine jewellery, health products, dogs toys, dogwear and accessories, local charities, local clubs, traditional games, giant bouncy castle, face painting, tombola as well as delicious WI tea, homemade cakes and refreshments in the Village Hall
Old Newton Dog Show Classes
Once again the Village Hall is proud to present the Old Newton Dog Show in conjunction with the Village Country Fair on Sunday 14th July 2019. The show will include Pedigree classes as well as Fun classes. Registration for all classes is only £1.50 per dog, per class, and will take place throughout the day from 10.30am.
PEDIGREE CLASSES – judged from 10.30am in the following order:
Any Variety Puppy, 6 – 12 months
Any Variety Junior, 12 – 18 months
Any Variety Sporting Dog
Any Variety Non-Sporting Dog
Best Veteran – over 7 years old
Any Variety Open
Pedigree Best in Show + Reserve
FUN CLASSES – judged from 1.30pm approx in the following order:
Dog with the nicest eyes
Best Groomed Dog – non pedigree
Handsomest Dog
Prettiest Bitch
Fastest Retrieve
Dog with the best smile
Dog with the waggiest tail
Dog most like his/her owner
Best Irish Brace (most unalike pair)
Most appealing pair of dogs
Most obedient dog - over 12 months old
Most obedient puppy - under 12 months old
Best Conditioned Veteran – over 10 years old
Best Rescue Dog
Best Village Dog – resident in Old Newton, Gipping or Dagworth
Fun Best in Show + Reserve
The dog show is lots of fun and open to everyone, but please remember for the health, wellbeing and safety of all our visitors, both two legged and four, please ensure you keep your dogs on their leads at all times - we don’t want any dogs joining in the Gymnastics display (or owners for that matter)! We kindly request that you do not attend with bitches or puppies under 6 months old – bring them next year when they can compete instead! Remember to bring water bowls for your dogs because we all need refreshment and we’ve provided bins around the fayre so please clean up after them too – thank you.
