Widgets Farm Frome,Somerset Tel: 07900 403126 Website
2016 Dog Friendly Best Hotel / Places To Stay Winner

“Widget's Farm not only welcomes dogs, they positively encourage them, and the luxury cabin has been designed and located very much with doggy guests in mind... The cabin has a beautiful finish which is also hard wearing and easy to clean so owners can rest easy; there is an en-suite wet room meaning everyone, man and furry family, can have a warm shower; the cabin garden has secure fencing allowing dogs to have freedom (but not too much freedom), and the cabin is located in it's own private 5 acre meadow so less sociable pups don't need to meet anyone they don't want to. It also means that no one will hear them bark if owners have more "chatty" pups"! The location is also perfect for doggy families... located in Somerset (near Bath), there is a dog-friendly pub within 5 minutes walk; lots of great walks from the door (as well as the Salisbury plain within a few minutes drive) and an abundance of dog friendly visitor attractions locally. Doggy daycare can also be arranged as well as dog hampers and beds so owners can truly travel light.”

“The staff always come and say hello to my dogs, with a plate of biscuits and fresh water. I always feel my dogs are warmly welcomed.”

“My first visit to The Mill, I was walking my labrador and spotted the dog friendly sign outside. I thought I would stop for a coffee. We sat down inside and without asking a lady bought over a bowl of water and a small plate of biscuits. We got chatting as she also was a Labrador owner. It turned out she handmade the biscuits fresh every week. What a wonderful touch. She even gave me a little bag with a couple in to take for the rest of our walk.”

The pathways and walks are all detailed on the website as to the terrain expected and also places of interest and history details are given as appropriate. My dog's exercise is my priority but I have to say I also love to indulge myself in the scenery and magical discoveries I have made on the way. Walking the SW Coast Path is a win win as far as I'm concerned. “

“Me & my dogs have so far walked 157 miles of the South West Coast Path & have loved every step of it, stunning scenery & a trustworthy well managed trail the whole way.”

“The Southwest coast path is just a great place to walk a dog -walking along some of the many miles of the path is uplifting for both my dog and me - much more stimulating than a walk in the park. The path is kept in good order so it's easy to walk along.”

“What a waggy welcome you get here...from the cafes, hotels, restaurants....even the barber's.”

“Kelso, in The Scottish Borders, warmly welcomes dogs, lots of them ! In addition they host Dog Agility events and specialist dog breed events. So, Kelso is well used to welcoming canine companions. Eurotunnel Folkestone
Tel: 08443 353535 Website
2016 Dog Friendly Best Large Organisation Winner

“Travelling with a pet can be challenging and stressful for all involved. However, when we have travelled to France for a camping holiday we were blown away by the pet facilities at the Eurotunnel terminals. Despite being a very busy period to travel, we had ample space to let all 4 dogs run around the exercise area and collect some free toys and treats before boarding the shuttle. The staff were friendly towards the animals and ready to assist with any questions or problems. Having previously travelled on the ferries (where facilities are lacking to say the least, and you are forced to leave your pet alone, below decks), being able to comfort your cat or dog during the unusual process of boarding and travelling gives us massive peace of mind. We wouldn't travel any other way!”

“My dog is 18 years old in a couple of months time and is well into her second passport as we travel frequently, but she still enjoys meeting all the other dogs at the wonderful facilities which are available at both terminals. We have always found the staff friendly, helpful and welcoming. The way the pet facilities have improved over those years is staggering! I am sure it is the reassurance of such care being taken for the most important member of the family that is the one of the main reasons why owners choose Eurotunnel. Lastly, it is good to see the improved facilities at the French terminal.”

“Great facilities for the dogs for taking a short break in the journey. Very professional staff who are helpful and efficient ensuring the minimum delays whilst completing the necessary checks.”
